Iain McGuffog joins from Ofwat
Bristol Water has appointed Iain McGuffog as director of strategy and regulation to oversee the company’s long-term strategy and its PR19 business plan.
McGuffog, who has more than 15 years’ experience in the sector, joins from Ofwat, where he was director of strategy and planning from November 2015.
Prior to that he was chief economist at South West Water, after more than 12 years as economic regulation manager at the company.
McGuffog has experience in economic regulation, economic analysis, business planning and market strategy, having been through three water price reviews during his career.
Before joining the water sector, he worked as a management accountant and economist in the chemical, consumer electronics and rail sectors.
He said: “I’m delighted to be joining Bristol Water at such a key time for the water sector. The importance of the sector to its customers and stakeholders is one of the key things that attracted me to the water industry, and my experience at Ofwat emphasised this further.
“I am really looking forward to helping the team at Bristol Water develop and deliver its plans for the future.”
Mel Karam, chief executive at Bristol Water, added: “Iain is a great appointment for Bristol Water and joins us with a wealth of industry knowledge and experience.
“I look forward to working with Iain as he settles into the new role and takes forward our work in the areas of strategy and regulation.”
McGuffog, who has also joined Bristol Water’s executive team, commenced his new role last week, replacing Keith Hutton.
