Analysts warn of electricity shortages over winter

Electricity supply in Great Britain will be insufficient to meet demand over 10 hours this winter, even with National Grid tapping into its contingency coal reserve to prop up the system, analysts have warned. If it is unable to find ways to increase generation and reduce demand, LCP said the electricity system operator (ESO) will be forced to disconnect customers, such as energy intensive industries, to keep the lights on.
