Anglian Water has announced a £135 million support package for customers struggling to pay their bills, which will include discounts on tariffs of up to 50%, as well temporary payment plans, forgiveness schemes and payment breaks.
The company said the financial assistance is expected to help around 330,000 customers over the next year.
The new support package – it’s largest to date – comes in addition to the £65 million of assistance announced by Anglian in June. The company said 250,000 customers have already benefitted from extra support in 2022.
Last year, Anglian provided affordability support to more than 320,000 customers but the company said this number is expected to increase by tens of thousands both this year and next as customer struggle with rising inflation.
Anglian Water’s director of customer and wholesale services, Pete Holland, said: “For many of our customers and their families, next year is going to continue to be very difficult. We’re proud of the support that we’ve already provided, but given the incredibly challenging reality for so many, we wanted to go even further to help our customers.
“That’s why, just four months after we announced support for this year, we are launching our largest ever package for those struggling with the cost of living. The scope of this support means we can help even more people in a way that’s tailored to their individual circumstances.”
