Areva has confirmed that it, along with bidding partner China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNP), is out of the race for British nuclear new-build project Horizon.
A spokesman from the French owned nuclear company told Utility Week that they and CGNP had “suspended their interest” and “will not submit a bid”.
Horizon, the joint new-nuclear venture between Eon and RWE, was put up for sale on 29 March this year following a strategic review.
According to Reuters, there are two bids that have been submitted for Horizon. These are said to be by Westinghouse and parent company Toshiba, and by Hitachi and Canadian engineering and construction firm SNC-Lavalin.
