Armitt casts doubt on Johnson’s 600,000 heat pump target

It is “hard to see” how the government’s target of rolling out 600,000 heat pumps per annum by 2028 can be delivered, with ministers relying “heavily” on the cost of the devices falling rapidly, the chair of the National Infrastructure Commission has warned. In its latest National Infrastructure Assessment, the commission also raised concerns over whether the water sector will achieve its target to reduce per capita consumption to 110 litres per day by 2050.
