PR24: Affinity cuts unaffordable plans by £430m

Affinity Water has cut its proposed spend for the period 2025-2030 to £2.12 billion from £2.55 billion after customers told the company its plans were unaffordable. Affinity set out its plans to increase its spending by more than £1 billion over the level seen during the current asset management period (AMP7) in May to get customer and stakeholder feedback ahead of the submission deadline this week.

PR24: Yorkshire to double environmental spend

Water and sewerage company Yorkshire Water is proposing a total spend of £7.8 billion to 2030, a significant step-up from the £4.3 billion allowed in PR19. Yorkshire says its proposed investment plan, which will be its largest ever, is predominantly driven by the requirements of the Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP), specifically the Storm Overflow Discharge Reduction Plan (SODRP).

Storm overflow spend to top £9bn over PR24

Wastewater companies have set out their investment plans to tackle storm overflows during the PR24 period. The total investment will top £9 billion with several companies expecting to beat government targets. United Utilities (UU) and Yorkshire Water will make the largest investments in PR24 at £3.1 billion and £1.9 billion respectively due to UU having more combined sewers than most other water companies, coupled with higher-than-average rainfall.
