In our latest round-up of weekend’s papers, Centrica looks to spend £1.6 billion to convert the Rough gas storage site to hold hydrogen and it’s revealed the government’s new green bonds will not be used to invest in nuclear energy.
Gridserve has relaunched the Electric Highway charging network it recently acquired from Ecotricity under its own branding after beginning a programme to upgrade the network with more advanced and powerful chargers, whilst also announcing plans to spend more than £100 million installing banks of ultrafast chargers at 50 of the locations. Utility Week spoke to the company’s founder and chief executive Toddington Harper.
Norwegian state-owned oil company Equinor has announced plans to build a further 1.2GW of hydrogen production facility in the UK, primarily to fuel the 900MW Keadby hydrogen plant. The company had already revealed plans to construct a 600MW autothermal reformer in Saltend to produce so-called blue hydrogen.
