Avro Energy ordered to hand over financial details

Avro Energy has been ordered to immediately provide Ofgem with financial information or face enforcement action from the regulator.

Ofgem said it was issuing Avro with a provisional order, compelling the supplier to provide the regulator with “financial and other information relating to the company’s activities”.

In an announcement this afternoon (14 September) Ofgem said it had issued two requests for the information on 19 August.

Ofgem said Avro has offered “no satisfactory explanation” for its refusal or failure to provide the information requested.

As a result of the provisional order Avro is now required to immediately provide Ofgem with the requested information, with the regulator expecting it to “engage in constructive discussions about their financial projections”.

Failing to provide the information requested is a breach of the supplier licence conditions and failure to comply may result in further enforcement action being taken.

This could include a fine or even Ofgem revoking Avro’s licence to operate in the energy market.
