The chairman of Sutton and East Surrey Water (SESW) has stepped down following the company's sale to Japanese firm Sumitomo.
Deryk King, who left his post as part of a board overhaul has been replaced by Jeremy Pelczer. Pelczer, who was chief executive of Thames Water until 2005, was recently a non-executive director at South Staffordshire Water.
Pelczer was seen as the natural choice because he advised Sumitomo on the water industry in the UK, a spokesman said.
Sumitomo has also appointed Masao Miyamoto, who is deputy general manager of its wind power and water infrastructure business department, as a non-executive director on the board.
As part of the shake-up Paul Malan, senior partner Icon Infrastructure also stepped down as a non-executive director. Icon Infrastructure owned SESW’s former owner Aqueduct.
