Bristol Energy names new chair

Bristol Energy has appointed Nick Jordan as its new chair.

Jordan has worked in the finance industry for more than 30 years and joins the energy company to provide guidance as the company grows.

The municipal energy company, owned by Bristol City Council, was set up in February 2016 to offer fairly priced energy and reinvests profits into local communities

Jordan said: “An energy company owned on behalf of the people of Bristol is a hugely compelling proposition, and just one of the reasons why I’m delighted to be joining the team.

“Bristol Energy has a real opportunity to be a force for social good. Addressing the social injustice of fuel poverty is something the entire company is motivated to achieve. The fact that we’ve already saved our customers over £2 million pounds during the company’s first few months is, I hope, a sign of much more to come.”

The company has also appointed two new non-executive directors, Alex Wiseman and Merlin Hyman.

The firm’s managing director Peter Haigh said that the company, which runs separately to the council, is in an “exciting period of growth”.
