Ofgem has appointed British Gas to take on the customers of PfP Energy and MoneyPlus Energy.
PfP had approximately 82,000 domestic customers and 5,600 non-domestic, while MoneyPlus Energy served c9,000 homes.
Ofgem said British Gas would offer customers “a competitive tariff”. Outstanding credit balances, including money owed to both existing and former customers of PfP Energy and MoneyPlus Energy, will also be honoured. British Gas will also absorb “some of the costs” of honouring credit balances and the migration of customers.
The switchover will take place tomorrow (11 September).
Both suppliers ceased trading earlier this week, taking the number of retailers that have exited the market in 2021 to five.
The suppliers join Hub Energy which exited in August and Green Network Energy and Simplicity Energy, both of which exited the market in January.
