British Gas winter advert points to customer services focus

British Gas has launched its winter advertising campaign with a strong emphasis on the customer services elements of its retail offering.

The ‘Warm and Working’ campaign launched with prime television advertising spots on Sunday evening and comes just months after parent company Centrica announced a billion pound swing towards retail. Centrica said it plans to invest £1.5 billion over the next five years in energy supply, services, distributed energy and power, and the connected home.

In the advertisement, a penguin called Wilbur explores the “wonders” of a working family home; including a boiler, steamy hot water and a warm radiator, said British Gas in a statement.

British Gas’ director of brand marketing Margaret Jobling said: “With winter approaching, the Warm & Working campaign explores some of the ways that British Gas is helping keep people’s homes warm and working – whether that’s by offering our boiler cover product, HomeCare; because we’ve installed a new, energy-efficient boiler; or because we’ve conducted a one-off boiler repair, which is a service we offer to everyone whether they’re a customer or not.”

Jobling said the recently launched ‘No Place Like Home’ campaign “highlighted the fact that British Gas is dedicated to looking after British homes” and has already resulted in the company seeing a positive shift in perceptions.
