Consumers are “beginning to vote with their feet” claims co-founder
The green energy supplier Bulb has announced it has signed up 100,000 customers.
The company was launched in 2015 by Hayden Wood and Amit Gudka and offers customers 100 per cent renewable electricity and 10 per cent renewable gas.
Speaking to Utility Week earlier this month, Wood said it has seen the number of people switching to them almost double in the two weeks since the recent British Gas price hike announcement, with around 21,000 new customers since the start of August.
”We’re seeing people beginning to vote with their feet in huge numbers,” said Wood.
“They’re finally taking a stand against the Big Six, who keep putting profits first and customers last. At Bulb we’re making energy simpler, cheaper and greener. We offer our members a single green tariff, with top rated customer service, at a price that can save them over £200 a year – and it seems to be working.”
Claire Osborne, energy expert at uSwitch.com said Bulb is a “true small supplier success story”.
“Impressively, Bulb has managed to maintain a first-class customer service record while growing at this fast pace,” said Osborne.
“With no exit fees and only one variable tariff to choose from, it’s important that Bulb keeps up this high standard to ensure its customers stay loyal.
“The bigger players must compete with these smaller suppliers on cheaper tariffs and better customer service or people will continue to vote with their feet,” she added.
