Bulb named in LinkedIn’s ‘top 25’ startups in UK

Green energy supplier Bulb has featured in LinkedIn’s UK “Top Startups” list for 2018, the only utility company to do so.

To be eligible for the list, companies must be seven-years-old or younger, have at least 50 employees, be privately held and headquartered in the UK.

Bulb placed 15th out of 25 on the list.

Responding to the news, Hayden Wood, co-founder and chief executive of Bulb, said: “We’re delighted that Bulb is now one of the top tech startups to work for in the UK.

“Since Bulb was founded in 2015, we’ve been on a mission to make energy simpler, cheaper and greener for everyone.

“The tech we’ve developed as a team helps keep costs down, provides members with great service and helps them reduce their carbon emissions.

“All of us on team Bulb are excited to continue growing and delivering to more and more people across the UK.

“To get there, we need more brilliant people to join our team. We invite you to come and make energy better.”

In August Bulb announced it had received a £60 million injection from two major international investors.

The supplier received the funding from DST Global and Magnetar.

Bulb said it will use the investment to help it to hire more “top-class engineers and energy experts who help deliver its top-rated customer service” for its members from its London headquarters.

Speaking at the time, Wood said he was “delighted” to have the investors on board and added: “To be backed by DST Global is a fantastic endorsement as we develop technology to transform the way energy is used and produced.

“Energy is being revolutionised by renewable generation, battery storage and smart meters and we’re excited to introduce this technology to homes across the UK.”

According to the latest figures the company has a total workforce of 200 but expects to reach 250 by 2019.
