Bumper finalist crop announced after ‘astounding’ response to Women in Utilities Awards launch

Almost 50 different organisations are represented across the shortlist for the first Women in Utilities Awards.

The finalists for the first Women in Utilities Awards, created in partnership by Utility Week and Womens Utilities Network (WUN), have been revealed.

Across 10 categories almost 50 different organisations including energy and water utilities, contractor organisations, equipment manufacturers, consultancies and more are represented in a compelling showcase of female talent, ambition and success across the sector.

A special mention goes to UK Power Networks which has accumulated an impressive six shortlisted entries across multiple categories. Other multi-category finalists come from Centrica, Thames Water, Jersey Electric, Business Stream and Eon UK.

The full list of finalists for awards recognising outstanding demonstrations of inspirational leadership, allyship, mentoring, education outreach, creative equity, diversity and inclusion programmes and more can be found on the awards website. There, you can also book a table for the awards ceremony, to be held in London on 27 June.

Responding to finalists announcement, Ellen Bennett, Utility Week portfolio director said: “The industry’s response to the launch of the Women in Utilities Awards has been nothing short of astounding.

“The entries we have received have left us in no doubt that now is the right time to recognise and celebrate women in utilities, showcasing their achievements and encouraging those who will come after them. Thank you to everyone who entered, and good luck!”

Echoing these sentiments, Louise Wapshare, director of WUN said the cross-sector women’s network is “very excited about the opportunity these awards give to showcase the fantastic talent we have in utilities.

She added: “The number and quality of the nominations has been overwhelming and WUN wishes all those shortlisted the best of luck!”
