Business Stream gears up for growth in England with two appointments

Scottish water retailer Business Stream has appointed two new non-executive directors it said will help the company prepare for growth in England.

The new arrivals are Amanda McMillan, managing director of Glasgow Airport, and Willie MacDiarmid, a former director of energy retail at Scottish Power.

Mark Powles, chief executive of Business Stream, said the two brought with them “an enormous amount” of experience in customer-led regulated businesses.

“We’re very excited to have them join us and I know they’ll have a lot to offer as we continue to prepare for full market opening in England, which we expect to happen over the next few years. We’ve made some excellent progress in that direction and we’ll benefit further from the invaluable input of two very talented and experienced individuals who have been successful in extremely challenging markets.”

The UK government has committed to publish a draft water bill this month, which will take forward proposals to allow all non-domestic water customers in England to choose their supplier.
