Water retailer Business Stream plans to help customers reduce water consumption by 20 per cent as part of its water efficiency pledge announced today (25 June).
The commitment is expected to generate “greater environmental and financial savings” for its customers.
Business Stream said its customers have saved more than 38 billion litres of water to date, which equates to almost £75 million in financial savings and over 66,000 tonnes in CO2 savings.
The company plans to work with customers, particularly those who have not previously adopted water efficiency measures to identify and deliver “solutions for their needs”.
A marketing campaign will support the activity to raise awareness and promote the steps customers can take to make a “real difference”.
Jo Dow, chief executive of Business Stream, said: “We are passionate about water efficiency and want to work with our customers to help them reduce their water usage so that they only use what they need to. We have developed a vast suite of water efficiency services and have the expertise and experience to deliver real results for our customers.
“This pledge reinforces our commitment to deliver environmental benefits and financial savings to our customers by helping them use less water – and we are excited to be launching it today.”
Business Stream became the first water retailer to partner with Waterwise, earlier this year, to promote water efficiency and conservation to business customers.
Nicci Russell, managing director of Waterwise, said: “It’s so important that water retailers help all their customers reduce their water bills – to help them save money and reduce their impact on the environment.
“We have long recognised Business Stream’s commitment to promoting water efficiency and we’re delighted to hear that they have launched this pledge. We look forward to seeing the results.”
Network Rail appointed Business Stream as its water retailer last month to manage water and wastewater services across all its sites.
Business Stream claims the contract is one of the “largest” to be awarded since the water market opened for competition in England on 1 April 2017.
