Business Stream has secured a UK-wide three-year contract to supply water and wastewater services to Greggs.
As part of the deal, Business Stream will help the bakery chain develop a water management strategy to identify water efficiencies across its 1,650 retail stores and production sites. A full trade effluent and treatment review is already underway.
James Cardwell-Moore, commercial director at Business Stream said the company is “particularly pleased” to have won back this business in Scotland from Water Plus.
He said: “Our aim is to work with Greggs to provide water and wastewater solutions that help the company become even more water efficient, delivering both financial and environmental gains. We look forward to building a strong partnership with this ambitious company for many years to come.”
Ally Stephenson, head of purchasing at Greggs, added: “We have been very impressed with the support that we have received from Business Stream during the complex switch over process, and are already seeing the benefits of working with a national supplier.
“Having a single point of contact who is helping us to resolve issues and minimise water usage will bring both financial and environmental benefits, which is key for us as a responsible business.”
Earlier this month, Business Stream announced a partnership with Waterwise to help promote the importance of water efficiency and conservation to business customers across the UK.
It is the first water retailer to partner with the not-for-profit organisation and become one of its affliates.
