The proposed carbon floor price for the UK is an unfair tax that will push energy prices up, according to Eon UK’s chief executive, Tony Cocker.
He said the carbon floor price subsidises old nuclear and hydro plants “which our parents or grandparents built, and doesn’t help the investment climate in the UK at all”. Cocker said it is “simply a tax” and should be “kept low and not disproportionate”.
He said he would like to see a European carbon directive that created “a genuine European scheme and a level playing field across Europe”.
