Castle Water has won a second multi-million-pound public sector water retail contract through the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) framework.
The water retailer has secured “recommended supplier” status for the second bulk competition of a major national framework through the CCS for the provision of water and wastewater services to the public sector in England.
The company claims to be one of the first water retailers to successfully carry out a bulk transfer of English public sector customers.
In November last year, Castle secured a national contract through the CCS framework for the provision of water and wastewater services to the public sector in England, worth an estimated £28.9 million.
The results of the further competition run by CCS means that it can successfully extend its services to additional public sector customers.
Castle Water chief executive John Reynolds said the company is “very pleased” with the savings and the service standards provided to its existing CCS customers. “This recommendation will enable Castle Water to deliver immediate savings with high service standards to additional customers through the Crown Commercial Service framework.”
Sam Ulyatt, strategic category commercial director for Crown Commercial Service, said: “In April 2017 we brought the largest public sector water framework agreement to the UK market.
“The agreement is supporting the public sector to receive whole-life value in service and costs reduced on its customers water bills, leveraging the buying power of the public sector to support the delivery of efficient and effective public services.”
CCS said it has taken an aggregated further competition to market with an estimated total value spend of £21.5 million. It revealed 118 organisations (155 individual customers) have taken part in this process.
“We have already had 17 per cent take up and participating customers will have up until 4 February 2019 to sign a call off. The actual contract value is subject to signed call off and full contract value will not be fully known until after 4 February 2019,” the CCS said.
Castle Water is the only retailer to have been appointed to this phase.
