Scarsella: Blackouts ‘very unlikely’ this winter
UK Power Networks chief executive Basil Scarsella has dismissed the possibility of blackouts this winter as “very, very unlikely” despite concerns over the security of supply amidst the ongoing energy crisis. Responding to questions at the Utility Week Forum in London on Wednesday (9 November), his sentiment was echoed by Eon Energy chief executive Michael Lewis who said a number of factors would need align for blackouts to occur, including extremely cold weather and problems with nuclear generators in France.
