Frerk appointed to chair Open Networks stakeholder group

Former Ofgem partner and Utility Week contributor Maxine Frerk has been appointed to chair a new stakeholder group for the Energy Networks Association’s Open Networks project. The challenge group, which will be convened at the end of February, will scrutinise the programme’s work to make networks smarter and more flexible to facilitate the decarbonisation of the energy system.

Cadent and Equinor to develop plans for ‘hydrogen town’

Cadent and Equinor have agreed to work together to develop plans for a “hydrogen town” in the Humber region in which the gas network would be converted to run on 100% hydrogen. They said the Humber – sometimes described as the UK’s “energy estuary” – is the ideal location for a such pilot due to the other low-carbon hydrogen production projects proposed in the area, including Equinor’s H2H Saltend blue hydrogen plant.
