Ofwat encourages equity raising to finance investment

David Black, Ofwat's chief executive, has told investors he expects that water companies will need to raise equity as well as debt to finance the investment needs of the next price review from 2025. Black also said it is "extraordinary" that companies have not recognised the benefits of linking executive pay to performance, something they will be required to do as part of their licence conditions for PR24.
