UU installs novel nutrient removal technology at wastewater plant
To meet tighter nutrient level requirements coming from 2024 as part of the Wastewater Framework Directive, United Utilities has begun upgrading a sewage works site at Macclesfield to include organic plant material in the sludge treatment. The company said the process will improve the quality of treated water leaving the plant and contributes to its efforts to restore and enhance the health of waterways across the North West
