Report shows 88% rise in CSO discharges
The number of discharges from combined sewer overflows into rivers and seas rose 87.6% in 2020/21 according to a report by Surfers Against Sewage, the group which has called for an end of CSOs by 2030. Its report showed discharges occurring outside of extreme weather events and at bathing sites designated 'excellent'.
