Cathryn Ross: Water sector needs a sense of urgency

Former Ofwat chief executive Cathryn Ross has called on the government to clearly set out its strategic vision for the water sector and to "put its weight and muscle behind the key things that need to be delivered to achieve it”. Ross, who now works for Thames Water, said that with a profusion of regulatory bodies, government needs to "take on the role of Chief Knocker-Together-of-Heads". For Ofwat, she said there needs to be a willingness to retain what works about the current regime as well as pushing forward changes that can bring about a step change in resilience.
