CCC backs plans for linked carbon trading scheme following Brexit

The Committee on Climate Change has given its support to the government’s plans to create a new carbon market in the UK following Brexit linked to the EU Emissions Trading System. The climate watchdog said the cap on allowances issued as part of the scheme should be based on the most cost-effective path to meeting the UK’s newly-adopted net-zero target.
