The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has confirmed that the results of the third Contracts for Difference (CfD) auction will be released this Friday (20 September).
More than £65 million of annual subsidies are being allocated in the auction, which is expected to see several offshore windfarms take contracts at near wholesale market prices.
The delivery body for the auction, National Grid Electricity System Operator, will notify applicants of the results through the Electricity Market Reform portal before 8am on Friday.
All applicants will receive letters detailing the outcome. Those which are successful will also be informed of their allocated capacity, final strike price and target commissioning dates.
The bidding window for the auction closed on 29 August after being extended by two weeks due to a legal challenge by Banks Renewables. The company accused the government of discriminating against onshore wind projects by excluding them from the auctions.
Ofgem recently postponed its final decisions on two new transmission connections to the Western Isles and Shetland to account for the extension.
