Claims of unlawful Bulb sale ‘without merit’, court hears

The government says it did not proactively publicise financial support for the takeover of collapsed energy supplier Bulb in order to avoid “leading the market” during the sales process. A three-day judicial review hearing is currently taking place in the High Court, following concerns from Centrica, Eon and Scottish Power that Octopus was offered different terms to other suitors for the nationalised energy supplier and that the secretary of state could have secured a better deal.
