Ofgem is moving ahead with plans for consumers to underwrite anticipatory investment in infrastructure to connect offshore wind farms to the power grid as part of the Early Opportunities workstream of the Offshore Transmission Network Review. The regulator said the current arrangements in which the initial user is on the hook until the later user connects has discouraged developers from sharing infrastructure.
