Consumers willing to pay to avoid future water shortages

Around one-third of billpayers have indicated they would be willing to pay more to fund infrastructure to boost resilience against future droughts and flooding, a survey has shown. It also suggested water efficiency messaging has impacted behaviour, with 70% of adults who identified recent drought conditions as a 'water crisis' saying they have altered their consumption behaviour.
