Timing of election adds ‘uncertainty’ to CfD process
The timing of the general election has added “uncertainty” to the next Contracts for Difference (CfD) auction, with the incoming government having just days to finalise the budget. With the election being called last month, and with all polls indicating Labour is likely to be in power on 5 July, concerns have been raised that there is little time to make a final decision on the budget for Allocation Round 6 (AR6). Concerns have also been raised by National Grid about the impact the AR6 process running to the longest timeline will have on the UK's interconnector ambitions.
