Developers of marine energy devices in Cornwall have been given a £2 million funding boost.
Money from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) will be made available for two years to support the development and deployment of devices at the FaB Test and Wave hub facilities.
FaB Test is a non-grid connected nursery test site for concept and prototype device in Falmouth Bay, and Wave Hub is a grid-connected site 10 miles off the north Cornish coast.
Claire Gibson, Wave Hub general manager, said the ERDF money was a “welcome boost” and that she hoped “it will act as a catalyst for device deployments”.
The funding can be used to support a range of development costs, including feasibility studies, product design, installation, and berthing fees.
