Cox: Could water licences be under threat?

The former chair of Ofwat has warned of a potential “perverse” and “irrational” outcome for water companies that fail to restore public legitimacy, suggesting political reaction to consumer anger could threaten company licences. Speaking at Utility Week Forum, Jonson Cox speculated that minsters could seek to “give the sector a shock” by shortening the notice period for removing a licence - from 25 years to as short as five years.
