Decc’s soft launch for the Green Deal

The Department of Energy and Climate Change's (Decc) flagship energy efficiency scheme has undergone a 'soft launch' ahead of the "full scale" launch in January.

With Decc’s soft launch, companies wishing to gain Green Deal accreditation will be able to do, while assessors and installers will also be able to get up and running. The Green Deal providers, who will be managing the finance plans, will be able to test their systems.

The “full scale” launch of the Green Deal, where consumers will be able to invest in loft and cavity wall insulation and other energy efficiency measures at no up front cost, will take place on January 28. The financial benefit of the efficiency measures will then be used to repay the costs of the Green Deal measures.

Householders and businesses can now register to have their properties assessed for the Green Deal.
