Defra blamed for ‘deeply uncomfortable’ delays to environmental regulation

The Office for Environmental Protection (OEP) has blamed Defra for causing delays to its own work by taking up to two years to reply to requests for information. Senior figures at the OEP have complained about the “deeply uncomfortable” length of time Defra takes to respond to requests for information, while also calling for additional resources.
