Defra demands 80% CSO cut by 2050

Targets for dramatic reductions in discharges from combined sewer overflows have been put forward by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, with the aim of eliminating 320,000 sewage discharges a year by 2050. The cost of upgrading sewer networks has been estimated to be between £350-600 billion, which would ultimately hit water bills.
