DfT axes plug-in car grant to boost public chargepoints

The government has closed its subsidy scheme for the purchase of electric cars and said some of the funding will be diverted to boost investment in the public chargepoint network. The Department for Transport (DfT) said the market has matured to the point where pure and hybrid electric vehicles now make up more than half of all new cars sold in the UK, meaning the grants are no longer necessary.
