The National Drought Group said it is "preparing for the worst case scenario" of another hot, dry summer leading to drought despite the wettest March for 40 years. Reservoir levels are at 94% after falling to 49% nationally at the end of September 2022. Extreme and changeable weather caused by the changing climate meant February was the driest for three decades, followed by a very wet March but the NDG said weather alone could not be relied on to avoid drought.
