Energy supplier Ebico has appointed Hew Balfour as its new chairman.
Balfour joined the not-for-profit home energy supplier as a director in 2013 and became chairman of the company’s subsidiary, Ebico Trading Limited in 2015.
Previously chief executive of interior fittings firm Havelock Europa from 1989 until 2010, and then re-joined the company as a non-executive director in May 2016, Balfour has held senior roles in the manufacturing, construction, and public sectors both in the UK and internationally.
Balfour said: “During the 12 years of Hugh’s chairmanship, Ebico has been transformed from a start-up to a significant force in the energy market with over 60,000 customers.
“In no small measure this transformation is down to Hugh’s passion for social justice. I look forward to the company building on sure foundations as we move to the next phase of development.”
Hugh Lee, Ebico’s co-founder and chairman for more than 12 years will be replaced by Balfour, but remains on the company’s board.
