Philippe Commaret has been appointed as managing director of EDF Energy Customers, overseeing the company’s UK retail arm.

Commaret moves from EDF in France, where he worked as director of sales. He was previously director general of ÉS Énergies Strasbourg, part of a majority-owned subsidiary of EDF Group.

He succeeds Beatrice Bigois who becomes chief executive of EDF Trading at the end of the year.

The supplier’s retail business serves around 4.9 million residential customer accounts in the UK and around 180,000 business customer accounts.

EDF Energy’s chief executive Simone Rossi said: “I am delighted that Philippe has agreed to become the new managing director of the customers business.

“He brings extensive experience in strategy, marketing and business development and I’m sure his knowledge will help us continue to deliver quality and good value services for our customers.”
