Despite claims by the government that heat network customers will receive “equivalent” support to other billpayers this winter, they still face a doubling in costs, the chief executive of the Heat Trust has told Utility Week. Stephen Knight also called on ministers to re-confirm their support for regulating heat networks following reports the Energy Bill, which enshrines this pledge, may be scrapped. He pointed to concerns around the efficiency of networks and the number of customers being moved onto pre-payment meters as examples of why regulation is badly needed.
