Energy and clean growth minister Kwasi Kwarteng has launched a review into the regime for designing and building offshore transmission infrastructure with the aim of removing barriers to the mass deployment of offshore wind. The government said the current arrangements, whereby developers take responsibility for installing the assets required to bring their power onshore, may no longer be suitable for rolling out the technology at the scales required.
