Neil Sachdev MBE will take over as chair of Energy Saving Trust.
He will replace Ted Brown from 1 April, who is due to step down on 31 March, after having held the role since February 2012.
Sachdev (pictured) joins Energy Saving Trust with a wealth of chairing experience in the corporate field, currently serving as chair of BonhillGroup PLC and CakeBox Holdings PLC. He was previously chair of Martin’s Properties Limited, Sirius Real Estate Limited, and Market Tech Holdings limited.
Prior to this, Sachdev was group property director of J Sainsbury, having spent 28 years with Tesco where he rose to become stores board director, responsible for its entire property and operations UK business.
He is also a governor at Nuffield Health, and has held numerous non-executive director positions.
Speaking of his new role, Sachdev said: “I believe there are huge opportunities for the specialist capabilities of the Energy Saving Trust and I look forward to working with the board, management team and staff to deliver even more impact towards building a sustainable future.”
A former member of the Green Construction Board, Sachdev was recognised for his work in relation to energy efficiency and sustainability in the retail sector with an MBE in 2016.
He received an MBA from the University of Stirling, and currently chairs the advisory board of Warwick Business School.
Energy Saving Trust is an independent, not-for-profit organisation providing guidance and analysis to the public, governments, and businesses about reducing energy usage and carbon emissions.
