Electricity North West has restored power to more than 17,500 properties after severe storms damaged to its network yesterday.
ENW said its engineers have been working “around the clock” to repair damage and restore power to the remaining 400 customers who are still without electricity.
The remaining faults include 128 customers without power in Leyland, 58 in Kirkby Stephen and 52 in Wigan.
In an update this morning, ENW said it had worked through the night to restore power to 16,000 homes, with just 500 properties without power this morning.
However, it announced at 11:30am that additional faults caused by continuous severe weather had cut power to a further 1,500 customers.
It 4:30pm the network operator issued a statement saying 400 customers in its region are currently without power.
ENW operations manager Mark Mercer said: “Cumbria was unfortunately impacted the most with the severe weather, but our teams have worked quickly and safely to restore customers as soon as possible and we expect the remaining customers to be restored today.
“While we have been able to restore the majority of properties, there may still be damaged equipment which needs repairs. If you see any fallen power lines please stay away and report them to us straight away.”
