Eon has followed SSE and said it will end the practice of cold calling.
Anthony Ainsworth, sales and marketing director of Eon UK, said: “This is the right thing to do.”
He added the company had been “working hard” over the last few months to gauge public opinion on cold calling, and “although we were still putting things in place to make this happen behind the scenes, it is best that we speed things up and confirm today that we’ve stopped these telephone calls.”
From Monday 19 August, Eon will only contact residential customers and potential residential customers that have consented to be contacted.
Earlier today, SSE stated it would end the practice of cold calling, because many customers found it “intrusive”.
