Energy giant claims new renewable tariff is cheapest among all major suppliers
E.ON has launched a new tariff using only 100% renewable electricity and green gas.
The company says the fixed one-year tariff is currently the cheapest renewable tariff offered by any major supplier, based on an average across all regions at Ofgem’s average consumption.
The E.ON Clean Energy tariff will match 100% of both the electricity and gas used with renewable energy guarantees of origin and gas certificates. It will cost £1,064 a year based on national average dual fuel consumption.
The company found that almost 40% of its customers would be interested in a renewables only tariff, according to a recent customer panel.
Chris Lovatt, managing director of residential at E.ON, said: “At E.ON we’re committed to developing sustainable solutions for our customers’ homes and this tariff gives our customers the choice to take a tariff which matches customer’s energy consumption with energy from a renewable source.”
E.ON owns 16 onshore wind farms in the UK, as well as five offshore wind farms, including a share in London Array, and two biomass power stations.
