Tariff offers customers cheaper electricity overnight, when most will choose to charge
Eon has launched a new tariff for hybrid and electric vehicle owners which gives customers access to cheaper electricity overnight, when most will choose to charge their vehicles.
The gas and electricity supplied is also purchased entirely from renewable sources.
Eon managing director for residential Chris Lovatt said: “For many electric or hybrid car owners, choosing the right energy tariff may be the last piece of the jigsaw in helping them lower fuel emissions and energy costs.
“At Eon we’re focused on providing sustainable solutions for our customers’ homes and with the increase of electric cars on our roads we’re pleased to be able to offer a tariff which gives our customers the flexibility to access cheaper electricity rates backed by renewable sources to charge their vehicles, while helping them save on costs.”
The tariff will be available to both single and dual fuel customers who will pay 33 per cent less for electricity supplied overnight.
Eon claims the dual fuel version offers savings of £261 per year when compared with the average of all standard variable tariffs from larger suppliers, and £173 per year when compared with to the average of all Economy 7 tariffs from larger suppliers.
Customers will need an Economy 7 smart meter installed to access the tariff.
Last month, Eon launched a 100 per cent renewable tariff and pledged to replace its standard variable tariff with a one-year fixed price contract.
