People claiming pension credit or low income households claiming child tax credit can apply for free cavity wall insulation and a cheque for £100 from Eon. The firm said applicants not have to be customers and that around 700,000 households could take up the offer.
The average home, claimed Eon, could save up to £390 per annum on energy bills by installing loft and cavity wall insulation.
The scheme is not open to housing association or council tenants and all applications are subject to a home survey, said the company.
