Eon has launched a salary sacrifice scheme for its employees, helping them to lease an electric vehicle (EV) as part of its sustainability aims.
The large supplier electrified its company cars in 2019 and the new salary sacrifice scheme will allow non-company car drivers to also access an EV.
The deal, developed along with fleet management specialist Lex Autolease, will also see employees able to lease a second car for a family members.
Additionally, to complement the scheme, Eon has introduced the option to purchase a home charge point through its e-mobility business unit, Eon Drive, which is another salary sacrifice benefit.
Chris Norbury, Eon’s chief people officer, said: “As we’re helping our customers to be more sustainable at home, in business and across entire communities with smart, personalised and sustainable solutions, it’s only right that we continue to enable our employees to make a direct personal contribution to cleaner air too.”
Meryem Brassington, electrification proposition lead at Lex Autolease, said: “While salary sacrifice schemes are nothing new, we’ve adapted them to reflect changing customer behaviour and demand for more sustainable vehicle options.
“Offering only EVs through a salary sacrifice scheme is a great way, alongside existing government initiatives, to encourage drivers to transition to electric.
“Eon employees can now benefit from the discounts we’re able to negotiate with car manufacturers as well as through savings in tax, National Insurance and benefit in kind tax for EVs.”
Fellow large supplier EDF Energy also has an EV salary sacrifice scheme, as does Octopus Electric Vehicles.
Meanwhile disruptor brand Pure Planet offers its staff an EV leasing deal, while simultaneously offering employees an e-bike and bike scheme which is salary sacrifice.
